Sodomy Is A Sin, Whether It Is With A Man Or A Woman

1 Corinthians 6:9 – Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites.

This scripture gives us a complete explanation of what constitutes sexual immorality according to the Bible. Fornication is any sexual intercourse outside the institution of marriage, such as, two unmarried (single) individuals having sexual intercourse.

Adulterers are any married people who are having sexual intercourse outside their marriage. An adulterer can also be a single individual who is having sexual relations with someone who is married.

Homosexuals are any individuals who have sexual intercourse with the same gender.

Sodomites are anyone, male or female, who engages in anal sex, whether they are in a marriage or not.

Each kind of sexual immorality is a sin and against the word of God.

Hebrews 13:4 – Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous.

And so we must not let the marriage bed be defiled by sodomy.

Romans 1:26 – Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones.

Sodomy (anal sex) between a man and woman is wrong as there is no natural use to sodomy. God did not make sodomy a natural sexual act, and this is why homosexuality is wrong. The only natural sexual act, is that which takes place between a man and wife through vaginal sex.

Romans 1:27 – In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.

This scripture is addressing sodomy between two men, stating that this is also considered unnatural relations.

Other translations of Romans 1:26-27:

Good News Translation – Because they do this, God has given them over to shameful passions. Even the women pervert the natural use of their sex by unnatural acts. 27 In the same way the men give up natural sexual relations with women and burn with passion for each other. Men do shameful things with each other, and as a result they bring upon themselves the punishment they deserve for their wrongdoing.

Weymouth New Testament – This then is the reason why God gave them up to vile passions. For not only did the women among them exchange the natural use of their bodies for one which is contrary to nature, but the men also, 27 in just the same way—neglecting that for which nature intends women—burned with passion towards one another, men practising shameful vice with men, and receiving in their own selves the reward which necessarily followed their misconduct.

KJV – For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:

NKJV – For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. 27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.

NASB 1995 – For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, 27 and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error.

Sodomy or anal sex is a sin in the eyes of God. It must not only be stopped but we must not approve of those who practice this sexual act. In the eyes of God, approving of sodomy is the same as actually doing it.

Romans 1:32 – Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.

If not admitted to God for His forgiveness, sodomy is a sin that will end in death, meaning eternal damnation for the soul. If you have committed sodomy, whether it be with a man or a woman, even within a marriage, you must admit your sin to God and ask Him for forgiveness, and He is sure to forgive.

1 John 1:9 –  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

Just like He will forgive all the other sins on this list if they are confessed/admitted to Him.

Romans 1:29-31 – They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31 they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy.

We must understand that we are all required to uphold all the standards of God, and every word of God.

Proverbs 30:5-6 – Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him. 6 Do not add to his words, or he will rebuke you and prove you a liar.

2 Samuel 22:31 – “As for God, his way is perfect: The Lord’s word is flawless; he shields all who take refuge in him.

Psalm 12:6 – And the words of the Lord are flawless, like silver purified in a crucible, like gold refined seven times.

Psalm 18:30 – As for God, his way is perfect: The Lord’s word is flawless; he shields all who take refuge in him.

Matthew 4:4 – Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.

Luke 4:4 – But Jesus answered him, saying, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

Deuteronomy 8:3 – He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your ancestors had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.
